What aspect of Australian life do you find most interesting?
The importance of starting the day quite early so you can enjoy as many hours as you can while the sun is out.

What’s one secret about life in Spain that Australians don’t know?
Our custom of cooking slowly and passing that tradition on from generation to generation. Enjoying time in the kitchen and spending time at the table all together. We have a beautiful word for it: sobremesa.

What’s the best part of teaching Spanish?
The joy of sharing my culture and language with my students.

What’s one piece of advice you have for students?
Become like a child again in the process of learning a new language. Forget everything. Be playful. It will help break your fear!

What do our students say?

“I have so very much enjoyed coming to Hoy! Spanish. It’s a very comforting environment to begin or continue to learn Spanish. The teachers are super patient and there are many laughs shared throughout the process. In-person and group lessons are awesome way try to converse with other people at your level and play fun activities as well.”

Georgia, chef and educator, Marrickville

“After a break of nearly 30 years, I was a little nervous to be returning to Spanish classes. But it was a huge relief to see how the weekly lessons flow. The pace is snappy, the comedy factor is high, and my fellow estudiantes are always ready to dive in and rescue me when I need it. Thursday nights at Hoy! Spanish are a definite highlight of my week.”
